On July 18, 2013, he emailed himself two draft letters that appear to be styled as a resignation from Nikolic to Gates. They contained allegations of a “marital dispute” between Bill and Melinda Gates, that the author had helped Gates acquire drugs to deal with “consequences of sex with Russian girls,” and had facilitated “illicit trysts.” Nikolic later told the Journal that the emails “were not written on my behalf or at my request.” A Gates spokesperson called the emails’ claims “absolutely absurd and completely false.”
